The remarkably gifted and famous Nigerian reggae-dancehall musician and performer, Patoranking, has once more showcased his musical dexterity with a sensational body of work titled “World Best Album.” This fourth studio album, released on September 6, 2023, is a commanding statement that reaffirms his status as a global Afrobeats and Dancehall heavyweight, seamlessly blending genres from across the world.
This massive new project houses an outstanding collection of fifteen tracks, all skillfully composed to mesmerize fans and music lovers across the globe. The album serves as a definitive showcase of Patoranking’s brilliant musical quality, songwriting skill, and his renowned versatility in collaborating with artists from diverse genres and backgrounds. The 48-minute, 50-second journey is a sophisticated mix of Afrobeats, Afropop, Dancehall, Reggae, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, and more, proving the album title to be a mission statement rather than just a boast.
The international array of talent featured on the album is a key highlight, demonstrating Patoranking’s vision to truly create a “world” project. The collaborative tracklist includes Nigerian music maestro Kizz Daniel on “Gyal Like You,” American singer and actor Ludacris on “Miracle Baby,” and Jamaican musician Popcaan on the fan-favourite track “Tonight.” Furthermore, the album features appearances from the iconic Jamaican singer, Beenie Man, Ghanaian female vocalist and songwriter Gyakie, Nigerian music sensation, Victony, Legendary Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, and English singer Zion Foster.
The album’s critical and commercial success is rooted in its thematic diversity, touching on socio-political struggles (like in the single “Abobi”), thanksgiving, triumph, and maternal love (as heard on “Mama”). Through tracks like “Inshallah,” Patoranking opens the project with a feeling of faith and gratitude, a spirit that runs consistently through the entire body of work. The album solidifies his longevity and influence, coming after a three-year gap following his third studio album, “Three” (2020), ensuring he remains in conversations among the upper echelon of African music stars.
