Patrick “Patty” Obasi (1951–2012) was a pioneering Nigerian gospel recording artist. A renowned vocalist, guitarist, and music evangelist, he is widely regarded as one of the key figures who shaped Nigerian gospel music. Early life and career Origin: Patty Obasi was born in Mmaku, a town in the Awgu local government area of Enugu State, Nigeria. He began his singing career in his hometown. Rise to fame: He rose to prominence in 1980 with the release of his acclaimed album Nwa Mama Iwota. Debut album: His first album was Bianu Kanyi Kele Jehova, and he would go on to release over 15 studio albums during his career.
