The song you requested is Otan by Sarkodie.
Sarkodie is a multi-award-winning Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, widely celebrated as one of Africa’s most influential hip-hop artists. Otan, which translates to “Hate” in the Twi language, was released in late 2023 and became one of the biggest songs of 2024, serving as a powerful lead single for his The Championship EP.
The song is a deeply spiritual and reflective track where Sarkodie addresses his detractors and the negativity he has faced throughout his career. Rather than responding with anger, he uses the song to declare his reliance on divine protection and his commitment to staying focused on his path. The lyrics, “Otan nni aduro” (Hate has no cure), emphasize the message that one must rise above the jealousy and malice of others to achieve greatness.
Produced by MOG Beatz, the track features a soulful, mid-tempo beat with a captivating choir-like backing vocal that gives it an anthemic and prayerful feel. Otan has been praised for its mature storytelling and its ability to inspire listeners to persevere in the face of opposition.
